June

Updates:
Adam is still working long amounts of hours, but summer has been wonderful. I started at St. Vincent last week and it was great. Also, I got the weekend position at Riley so starting in October I will be working every Saturday,Sunday,Monday. I will get 6 weekend shifts off a year, so they will have to be used wisely. It will sure make getting through the PNP program easier!!

The rain on Monday caused massive flooding. This is 96th Street and Keystone.

This Saturday Karyn and I did the Mudathalon! It was a 3 mile run/obstacle course. Here are the pictures. It was a blast, we can not wait to do it next year!!

These crazy girls wore dresses!

After the "shower" aka big fire truck hooked up to hoses.

Last weekend we did a charity bowling event with Phantom Fireworks and the guy that organized the event dressed up as an adult baby.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Meg

Campaign For Nursing's Future - Pediatric Nurses

Catholics have a sense of humor

My sister Mallory shared this with me. I thought it was so funny I had to post it!! The story goes: these two churches are located across the street from each other. Clearly there is some spiritual rivalry. Enjoy!

Karen turned 45 again

A birthday weekend for Mom! What a wonderful surprise. Mal and Mom were on there way and Grandpa decided to join! It was so very nice to see him!! Weekend festivities consisted of a sleep over, a breakfast buffet at Casa DeLa Zakrzewski, Garden Ridge, and window shopping in Broadripple. It was a fun weekend with family!

I start my new 2nd job at St. Vincent this Friday!! Midterm week is coming up so I probably will not post much!!

Adam is working 60-70 hour work weeks since its prime time season for the store! He was busy working during the family fun weekend! We probably will not have any yard updates until after the 4th of July.

Have a wonderful week,

Love Meg & Adam

Some battles we win, some we lose.

Finally after 4 years of working midnights (7p-7a) I finally get to get rid of the black out curtains and get some sheers! Its so wonderful to wake up with the sun and feel like a totally normal person! Well, after 4 trips to Target and 1 trip to Meijer I finally found the perfect combination of sheers, and not so sheer! They look great!! I am loving seeing the light!! :-)

Holy hotness! This 90+ degree days have been dreadful! So Adam decided to till the yard up and lay down new grass. We had valleys, holes, rocks and just a complete mess of a "yard". So this was an excellent idea!! His plan: Till the yard up on Tuesday, Lay sod and get sidewalk in on Monday June 13th. Right now the current standings are Adam 0:Yard 3. Here are the current pictures, its status is to be continued!!

Well as some of you may know I am going to be starting a new job in the upcoming weeks. I am still staying full time at Riley! However, I am just in the beginning of my career and I want to see what other opportunities are out there. So I am going to be working with a staffing company and work one day a week in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit at Peyton Manning's Children's Hospital at St. Vincent in Carmel, IN. I am very excited about this opportunity. No matter where my path leads Riley will always hold a special place in my heart!!

Grad school update: Currently I am in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program at IUPUI. This program will take me 3 years to complete. I am in a 500 level statistics course right now that is kicking my butt. I have decided that the PNP route may not have been my best decision for our future because it will limit me to only being able to care for children. So in August I plan to apply for the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Purdue Calumet. No, we will not be moving home, it is completely online. The FNP will give me the flexibility to care for children and adults. I can work in a PICU or in a clinic. If you are wondering what is the point of becoming a nurse practitioner why don't you just become a doctor? A nurse practitioner has a masters degree in nursing, and can write prescriptions, and function like a doctor (with the appropriate physician approved guidelines). However, a nurse practitioner will never make as much as a doctor but it is 3 years of school instead of 8.

This was a long post! Have a happy weekend,
Love,
Meg & Adam

summa summa summa time

I love summer!!

Ode to the cats

Batman trying to jump over the fence, bound and determined to escape!

I am a jungle cat!

Aww Mom we will behave just let us outside!!

Good Bye black out curtains, Hello Sun!! Oh how I love day shift!!

I finally gave my favorite patient her scrap book, then her mom Lacey and two of my work friends went out to celebrate her recovery. Left Ellen, Ally, Lacey, Meg.

Happy Anniversary to Me! I got this beautiful vase to match my crystal bowl that we registered for but we never received. Adam got it for me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers!! Love it!!

We can finally say goodbye the chunky, holey awful smidgen of a back yard we have and hello to a beautiful lush green lawn! Maybe we can finally have some friends over for a cook out? Today Adam is using the tiller and chopping up the whole back yard, then we will get all of the rocks and bad things out, let it dry out, rake it up fertilize it and lay some sod down! After almost 3 years of trying to grow a lawn it has been unsuccessful! We are going to put a sidewalk in from the driveway to the fence, and landscape with flowers and plants next to the house. Hopefully this will make our cookie cutter house a little more unique!! Have a wonderful day
Love, Meg & Adam

Summer Projects 2011

Ah the summer projects we have taken on. We got a great deal on patio furniture, a wasp decided to create a home on our deck. We put in a flower bed and a retaining wall (wall not quite done). Here are pictures of our newest additions! It seems that the work and plans for our house are never finished!

Hope, Happiness, and Love

Well I began a blog in early 2009 when I started wedding planning and never found the time to continue it. The older we get the more we realize time goes faster and we have less time for things. Less time to connect to my family and friends. Thus, a blog is a perfect way to update and connect with family and friends!
The name of this blog is an inspiration from my work life where you must always have HOPE, and from our home lives where the values of family, LOVE, and HAPPINESS are key to our life.
Well this is it for my first post!
Love,
Meg & Adam
