Love is all you need

We are born unique. Our experiences mold and change us.” – Emily Deschanel, as Dr. Brennan on Fox’s Bones

I am a wife, sister, daughter, aunt, nurse, and a friend. I am currently in school with much debate about which program to attend. I decided to pursue my PNP. I work at a Children's Hospital in Indianapolis  full time in the Pediatric ICU taking care of different types of kids from heart surgery, to dialysis, and stem cell transplant are just a few of the patient populations we see. I absolutely love taking care of kids. They never complain about why they are sick, all they want to do is play or be held and loved. How can a job be any more rewarding? I love to laugh, exercise, hang out with friends, family, and my wonderful husband Adam.

We have two cats, Batman, is a sneaky fat black cat that can open cabinets and does his best to communicate with us by being an ankle biter. Phoenix is a sweet little tiger striped Hemingway cat that has an extra thumb on each paw! He is a great teammate with batman because he can open doors.

This year was a turning point for me. I learned a valuable lesson, that not everything works according to plan. Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches and laugh at the things that do not happen they way they are supposed to! Coming to this realization has made me a better, stronger, less anxious person. I am so thankful for the path my life has taken and the people I have encountered because it lead me here to this.

Be where you are; otherwise you will miss your life. -Buddha

As I go through all kinds of feelings and experiences in my journey through life -- delight, surprise, chagrin, dismay -- I hold this question as a guiding light: "What do I really need right now to be happy?" What I come to over and over again is that only qualities as vast and deep as love, connection and kindness will really make me happy in any sort of enduring way.- Sharon Salzberg
